There is a wide variety of card games as well as board games available to be played while you are here. We have card tables that can be added to the space if need be. All games however need to stay at The Haven so they can be enjoyed by others. If you have a favourite game you would like to share please bring it with you so others can enjoy it.
A bulletin board is located by the large table in the back of The Haven that has a list of local available services that can be accessed by everyone. Some cards and pamphlets for some of these services can also be found on the shelves in The Haven to be taken. Feel Free to ask for a piece of paper to write a number down or to add whatever you need to your phone/take a pic if you want of the sheet(s). We will do our best to keep these numbers updated.
There is a a wide range of information on topics such as health (e.g. osteoporosis, stroke, depression) and tips on reducing your associated risks, fraud prevention, fall prevention tips, healthier gambling tips etc. that can be taken by individuals. There may be workshops as well coming in the future.
The increasingly normal reality of modern life is that individuals need to have basic computer skills and access to a computer in order to do things that could normally done via paper means etc. This has created a significant risk for the segments of our population that do not have a computer (or access to one) and/or computer skills in regards to government/health services which is predominantly online only. If you are one of these individuals and would like assistance in this regard please speak to someone at the Haven about this. You must be present while we help you with this.
Want to learn basic computer skills such as basic essentials of how your device works/parts of your device, checking email, how to search the internet? Tried to learn but everyone goes to fast. Ask about getting one on one lessons at your pace. If you have your own device bring it down and we can use your device. Rather not use your device to start use ours.
